36 countries · 58 editions · A4 & US Letter · Free for personal use

I do not use a paper calendar for my everyday appointments.
My work calendar, my private calendar and the calendar I share with Bas live on my iPhone. That is where I look to see what is happening on Tuesday. But when I want to see the year as a whole, I still find myself downloading a calendar.
There is something useful about being able to look across the months. You can see where a holiday might fit, what is already beginning to fill up and which things you would like to make room for before another year runs away with you.
The difficulty is finding one that feels like something I would actually want to keep nearby. Enough writing space. Week numbers. The important dates. Colours I enjoy looking at. A little gold, perhaps, without the whole thing becoming too elaborate to use.
That is where this calendar began.

Choose your country or region in the calendar selector below. Each edition includes a one-page year overview and twelve monthly pages, with a Monday start and ISO week numbers. Both A4 and US Letter sizes are available.
The month pages have space to write, a key to the holiday dates and a small seasonal note. There is also a fillable monthly notes box for compatible PDF readers. The text can be selected and copied; the individual day boxes are writing spaces rather than separate digital form fields.
The collection covers the 27 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, three British regions, the US federal calendar, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Canada has federal, provincial and territorial choices; Australia has eight state and territory editions. Regional coverage is described beside each download. It provides national and selected regional editions, rather than a complete record of every local holiday in every supported country.

Let the calendar sit beside the system you already use
You do not need to move your appointments out of your phone.
Use the year overview when you want to look further ahead. Print the month you need, keep the PDF on a tablet or fill in a few notes in a compatible reader. If you prefer everything in your digital calendar, there are separate calendar files for the holiday dates and the optional Essy’s reminders.
The distinction matters. You may already have a perfectly good holiday calendar. In that case, you can choose only the reminders that appeal to you.
Some people will want both. Some will want nothing more than the PDF. They are all useful ways to use it.
A few things worth remembering before they become urgent
When I think about the small prompts that belong in a calendar, I think about the things that are easier when you notice them early.
Beginning a gift-ideas list for your partner at the start of the year, then adding things as you hear them mentioned. Looking at the Christmas budget in September, while there is still time to decide what you want December to include. Having a regular conversation about money, savings goals and the plans you are making together.
The optional reminder calendar takes those ideas and gives them a place in the year. There is a monthly money conversation on the first Sunday, a January gift-list prompt and a few seasonal moments to look ahead.
Those particular dates are suggestions for this calendar, rather than a claim that they are appointments I personally keep. You can make the rhythm your own. If you manage money on your own, the monthly conversation can simply be a check-in with yourself.
You might pair it with The Calm Monthly Money Reset or use The Seasonal Savings List when the next few months need a little more thought. If you are also planning time off, start with The Leave Year 2027.
Four seasons, each with something to look forward to
I could never live somewhere that was sunny all the time.
I enjoy the change too much. Each season seems to arrive with a new promise: something to notice, something to make, somewhere to go or a reason to be particularly pleased to stay at home.
Spring is the first flowers coming through, the buds beginning to appear and the return of more sound outside. Summer is travelling, sitting on terraces and finding a sunny place in the garden. Autumn, my favourite, is candles, films, snacks and the growing appeal of comfort food.
And then there is snow.
The moment it starts, I am outside. Whether I have chosen appropriate footwear is not always part of the decision. The crunch of fresh snow under your shoes is one of the loveliest sounds I know.
The calendar follows that seasonal feeling through Willowmere, Cortelume, Amberfell and Hollowpine. Australian and New Zealand editions follow a Southern Hemisphere seasonal rhythm, so January is shown as summer and July as winter. The villages remain fictional settings rather than local weather forecasts. These are the fictional worlds I created for Essy’s. They came from my imagination, with my love of travelling and discovering new places somewhere behind them. Before I met Bas, I travelled solo a great deal. The pleasure of finding another place to spend a little time has stayed with me.
As a busy manager, I also know how welcome a small escape can be. Sometimes that means a story on your phone or iPad, a blanket on the sofa and the playlist from that world playing nearby.
You can begin with the season you love most: spring in Willowmere, summer in Cortelume, autumn in Amberfell or winter in Hollowpine. The calendar borrows their colours and small seasonal details, while leaving the plans to you.
Seasonal food and garden notes, with room for where you live
I wanted the pages to include a little of life beyond appointments: something to look for at the market, or a nudge to think about the garden before the planting window has passed.
These are starting points for curiosity. A strawberry season in one region is not necessarily a strawberry season in another, and a suitable day to plant a tree depends on your soil, climate and the tree itself.
The monthly notes therefore suggest what to explore rather than giving every reader the same gardening deadline. Use your local produce information and gardening guidance to adapt the ideas to where you actually live.
Add dates to your phone or computer calendar
An ICS file contains calendar events. You can import the supplied file into a compatible calendar app. It is a one-time copy: later changes to the original file do not automatically update those imported events.
A calendar subscription works differently. Your calendar app checks a hosted calendar for updates. The subscription is read-only, and how quickly changes appear depends on the app. Choose the holiday dates and Essy’s reminders separately.
The events are all-day entries that do not mark you as busy. No alerts are embedded. Use your calendar app’s settings if you want notifications. Import a file once; importing it repeatedly may create duplicates. A separate calendar makes the collection easier to show, hide or remove.
A note on holidays
The holiday key explains the dates included in your edition. Some countries have additional regional or local holidays, and school calendars are not included. Canadian editions distinguish federal from provincial and territorial calendars. Australian part-day and local holidays are excluded rather than displayed as full days off, and New Zealand provincial anniversary days are outside its national edition. A public holiday does not automatically establish whether you personally have time off work.
In the British editions, Christmas Day and Boxing Day are distinguished from their substitute bank holidays. In the US federal edition, actual dates and observed days are labelled separately. Check the source and your own arrangements before making travel or leave plans.
Useful things, before they become urgent
A gift-ideas list
Start early. Add the little things you hear mentioned throughout the year.
A monthly money conversation
Look at upcoming costs, savings goals and the plans you want to make room for. Together, or on your own.
Christmas, with breathing room
A September prompt to think beyond presents: food, outings, travel and the December you actually want.
These are optional editorial prompts, not public holidays. The first Sunday is a suggested monthly rhythm, not an appointment you have to keep.
Questions about the calendar
Is the 2027 calendar free?
Yes. The PDF calendars and calendar import files are free for personal use. Choose the edition and paper size you need.
Does it include week numbers?
Yes. The monthly pages use ISO week numbers and begin on Monday, including the US edition. At the beginning and end of a year, an ISO week may belong to the neighbouring ISO year.
Can I use it digitally?
Yes. The PDF has selectable text and a monthly notes field. Saving entered notes depends on your PDF reader, so save a copy and reopen it to check. Use an ICS file to import the calendar events into a compatible agenda app; it is a separate file from the PDF.
Are all European holidays included?
No. Choose from the supported country editions and read their coverage note. Most provide a national baseline, without regional, local or school holidays. The United Kingdom has separate England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland editions.
Do I need both the holiday calendar and the reminders?
No. They are separate choices. If holidays already appear in your calendar, you may prefer just the Essy’s reminders, or simply the printable pages.
What is the difference between importing and subscribing?
Importing an ICS file makes a one-time copy; later changes to our file do not update that copy. A subscription is a read-only calendar that your app checks for updates, and how quickly it refreshes depends on the app.
Will these events send reminders?
No alerts are embedded. The optional reminders are calendar entries. If you want a notification, choose it in your own calendar app.
Are the seasonal notes local to every country?
No. The European and North American editions use a Northern Hemisphere rhythm; Australian and New Zealand editions use a Southern Hemisphere rhythm. Tropical and local seasons still differ, and food availability and planting windows vary.
Keep a little room
I want the practical parts of life to support the things I enjoy: travelling, a good evening at home, something seasonal on the table and the anticipation of a plan that is still ahead.
That is the thought behind these pages. A useful overview, a few timely prompts and enough space for the year to become your own.
