The Calm Monthly Money Reset is a simple monthly ritual designed to bring your financial life back into one calm overview.

Choose one consistent moment every month - preferably near the end of the month, or shortly after your salary has arrived.

Make yourself a cup of coffee or tea, clear the table and spend twenty to thirty uninterrupted minutes reviewing the practical side of your life.

1. Look Back

Review your transactions without judgement. Notice which regular payments were made. Look for unexpected expenses. Identify purchases that genuinely added value to your life.

Ask yourself: what worked well? What surprised me? What would I like to improve next month?

2. Close Small Tasks

Close any small administrative tasks that have been waiting. Pay an invoice. Submit an expense claim. Cancel a subscription. File a receipt. Respond to an email.

Complete one or two tasks that have been quietly occupying space in your mind.

3. Look Ahead

Open your calendar. Look ahead to birthdays, holidays, travel, annual bills, home maintenance, gatherings and seasonal plans.

Write these upcoming expenses down before they become surprises.

4. Review Your Fixed Expenses

Review your fixed monthly expenses: housing, energy, insurance, phone, internet, transport, subscriptions and regular repayments.

5. Review Your Subscriptions

Every three months, review your subscriptions and ask yourself one simple question: would I subscribe to this again today?

If the answer is no, consider cancelling it.

6. Review Your Savings Goals

Review your savings goals - an emergency fund, annual expenses, travel, home, wardrobe, Christmas, seasonal plans.

Transfer the amount you planned, even if it is small. Consistency is more important than size.

7. Make Room For Enjoyment

Now deliberately create room for enjoyment. Set aside an amount for everyday luxury - perhaps fresh flowers, a new book, coffee with a friend, a museum visit, beautiful seasonal ingredients.

This is not an obligation to spend. It is permission to enjoy thoughtfully.

8. Write One Intention

Finally, write one financial intention for the coming month. Examples include: "I will prepare for one annual expense," "I will review one subscription," "I will enjoy my everyday luxury budget without guilt," "I will avoid unnecessary impulse purchases," or "I will complete one outstanding administrative task."

Finish the reset by asking yourself five questions.

What requires my attention this month? Which upcoming expense have I prepared for? What am I currently saving towards? What can I enjoy without worrying? What can I stop thinking about because it is now organised?

Close your notebook. The month is ready to begin.
