Not every lovely thing needs a serious review. Some simply deserve the right amount of appreciation — from a small seasonal touch to a moment so perfectly Essy’s that it is worth taking the long way home for.
A little measure of how lovely it really was
The Croissant Index does not judge a morning by perfect pastry layers alone. It notices the coffee arriving in a real cup, the light near the window, the paper bag carried home, the kindness of the table and whether the moment made an ordinary day feel more considered.
The score belongs to the whole experience. A simple croissant on a bench can outrank a polished room if it arrives at exactly the right hour. A beautiful café can remain merely lovely if nothing about it asks you to linger.
There are five levels. No half points, no hidden sixth category and no need to make every moment Peak Essy’s.

A Small Seasonal Touch
The moment is still ordinary, but one detail has shifted it: cinnamon on the coffee, a warm paper bag, a linen napkin, a darker cup or the first cardigan over the back of a chair.
It does not ask for a special journey or a long stay. It simply lets the season enter.
