The Seasonal Makeup Palette

A small seasonal makeup edit with one lipstick and one blush brought forward.

A small shift in colour and texture that allows everyday makeup to move naturally through the year.

  2. Choose one seasonal hero product
  3. Use wardrobe colours as a guide
  4. Avoid collecting near-duplicates

Seasonal makeup does not require four entirely different collections. The complexion may remain similar, the brow product may stay unchanged, and the same mascara may work all year. What changes most easily are cheek colour, lip tone, eye definition, texture and finish.

A seasonal palette can be created with one or two small adjustments. The purpose is not to follow every trend - it is to let makeup respond to light, clothing, weather and atmosphere.

Choose One Seasonal Hero Product

A hero product may be one lipstick, one blush, one cream shadow, one eye pencil, or one nail colour.

This product creates the seasonal shift while the rest of the routine remains stable.

Use Wardrobe Colours as a Guide

Review the colours worn most often in the season - for example camel, cream and chocolate may support warm rose or terracotta, navy, grey and black may suit berry, plum or cool rose, and linen, white and soft blue may support peach or sheer coral.

The makeup should harmonise with the wardrobe already in use.

Avoid Collecting Near-Duplicates

Before buying a seasonal shade, compare it with existing lipsticks, blushes and eye products. Ask whether the difference is visible on the face, whether the formula is more useful, whether it will replace something, and whether a sample or tester would be enough.

The Checklist

  • Core routine kept stable
  • Seasonal light and clothing considered
  • One or two colour shifts selected
  • Texture adjusted for weather
  • Hero product chosen
  • Near-duplicates reviewed
  • Palette remains easy to use

Choose the Seasonal Palette

Spring

  • Fresh rose, soft peach, light taupe, muted coral, clear balm, satin finishes.
  • The overall effect may feel lighter, fresher and less layered.
  • Consider replacing a heavy matte lip with tinted balm, creamy lipstick or sheer colour.

Summer

  • Lightweight base, cream blush, bronzed or sun-warmed tones, soft terracotta, warm pink, minimal eye product, water-resistant formulas where appropriate.
  • Keep the finish comfortable in heat and avoid adding more powder than necessary simply to eliminate all natural shine.

Autumn

  • Rosewood, muted berry, fig, copper, soft brown, olive, warm taupe, with slightly richer textures.
  • A deeper lip or more defined lash line can complement wool, suede, leather and darker neutrals.

Winter

  • Plum, deep rose, classic red, cool taupe, charcoal, soft shimmer, creamy berry tones.
  • The face may need more intentional warmth or colour when daylight is limited - balance richer tones with comfortable skin.

Pair It With

Seasonal makeup works best when the change is small enough to feel natural and distinct enough to make the new season visible.
