AI for Everyday Life
My Monthly AI Reset
A quiet monthly check-in to review what is helping, remove what is not and use AI more intentionally.

Digital tools tend to accumulate. Saved chats. Half-finished ideas. Prompts that no longer serve a purpose. Files created and forgotten. Subscriptions that continue unnoticed.
A monthly AI reset helps keep the technology useful rather than allowing it to become another source of clutter.
This is not a technical audit. It is a short review of how AI has been used during the month and whether it has genuinely supported everyday life.
Step 1: Review What Was Actually Useful
Look back at the tasks for which you used AI. Perhaps it helped you organise a week, draft a message, plan meals, prepare for a meeting, structure a project, create a travel list, or simplify household administration.
Identify the three uses that saved the most time or reduced the most mental effort. These are the applications worth repeating.
Step 2: Notice What Created More Work
Not every use of AI is efficient. Sometimes a response is too long, inaccurate or generic. Sometimes refining the prompt takes longer than completing the task manually.
Ask: which conversations became unnecessarily complicated? Which outputs required extensive correction? Which tasks would have been faster without AI? What did I ask for simply because the tool was available?
The purpose is not to use AI as often as possible. It is to use it only where it adds value.
Step 3: Save the Prompts Worth Keeping
Create a small personal prompt library. Keep only prompts that support recurring tasks - weekly planning, meal planning, email drafting, project breakdown, travel preparation, household administration, monthly reflection.
Store the prompts in one consistent place. A short, well-maintained collection is more useful than dozens of unsorted examples.
Step 4: Clear Unnecessary Content
Delete or archive chats that no longer have value. Remove generated files that are no longer needed. Rename important documents so they can be found later.
Check whether saved outputs contain personal information that should not be retained. Digital calm depends partly on knowing what can be removed.
Step 5: Review Privacy
Consider what information you shared during the month. Check whether any prompts included names, confidential work details, financial data or other sensitive information that was not necessary.
Adjust your future approach where needed. Use general descriptions and anonymised information whenever possible.
Step 6: Review Tools and Subscriptions
Ask: which AI tools did I actually use? Am I paying for overlapping services? Does the paid version still provide enough value? Could one tool replace several? Do I understand the relevant privacy settings?
Do not retain a tool merely because it may be useful one day.
Step 7: Choose One Intention for the Next Month
Select one clear intention - for example: "I will use AI only for three recurring tasks," "I will ask for shorter answers," "I will remove identifying details before sharing information," "I will verify important factual claims," "I will save only outputs that have a clear future use," or "I will use AI to support my planning, not to overfill my calendar."
Small Next Steps
- Review the month’s most useful AI applications.
- Identify tasks that became more complicated.
- Save effective prompts.
- Delete unnecessary chats and files.
- Review privacy and sensitive information.
- Check subscriptions and overlapping tools.
- Choose one intention for the next month.
Prompts to Try
Monthly AI reset
The Monthly AI Reset Reflection Prompt
Review a month of AI use and identify what is worth repeating.
Help me review how I used AI this month. These are the tasks for which I used it: [add tasks]. These were useful: [add examples]. These were frustrating or ineffective: [add examples]. Identify the three uses worth repeating, suggest one improvement to my prompts and identify anything I should stop doing. Keep the review concise and focus on reducing time, complexity and mental clutter.
Do not enter confidential, financial, medical or otherwise sensitive personal information into an AI tool.

A thoughtful AI routine includes deciding when not to use it.
The monthly reset keeps the tool in its proper place.
Useful. Intentional. And quiet enough that it does not become another system requiring constant attention.
