The Beauty Drawer Reset

An emptied beauty drawer with products sorted into small categorised groups.

A seasonal edit that keeps beauty products organised, hygienic and easy to use.

At a Glance

  1. Empty everything
  2. Sort into categories
  3. Review every item
  4. Replace with intention
  5. Label when useful

Beauty drawers become cluttered gradually. Nothing dramatic happens - a lipstick remains, a sample is added, a duplicate arrives. Eventually the drawer becomes difficult to close and even harder to navigate.

The Beauty Drawer Reset should happen four times each year - not to create perfection, but to restore clarity.

Empty Everything

Remove every product, wipe the drawer thoroughly, and allow it to dry before replacing anything.

Sort into Categories

Create groups such as skincare, hair, body, makeup, fragrance, tools, travel and backups.

Seeing similar products together immediately reveals unnecessary duplication.

Review Every Item

Ask whether you use it, whether you would buy it again, whether it has changed in texture, smell or appearance, whether it is still suitable, and whether it duplicates something better.

If the answer is repeatedly no, allow it to leave the collection.

Replace with Intention

Return products by frequency - daily items at the front, weekly products behind them, occasional products towards the back, and backups stored separately.

Label When Useful

Simple labels such as morning, evening, hair, travel and body can make shared bathrooms significantly easier to maintain.

The Checklist

  • Drawer emptied
  • Products categorised
  • Expired items removed
  • Daily products positioned first
  • Backups separated
  • Drawer cleaned

Pair It With

The drawer should feel lighter after every reset.

Not emptier for the sake of appearance. Simply easier to live with.
