One Chair Ready for Spring
Make a small place you will actually use on the next mild day.
Set at The Blue Door

At a Glance
- Clean what you will touch
- Make it easy to return
- Sit in it now
Choose the chair you would most like to sit in with a drink. A sheltered balcony corner or patch of garden is enough. Before you begin, decide where the drink will go and how you will get to the chair without moving half the room.
What You’ll Need
- one existing chair
- a cloth
- a little clear space
Clean what you will touch
Wipe the seat, arms and nearby surface using care appropriate for their material. Check the chair stands securely. Let it dry before adding a cushion.
Make it easy to return
Put the chair where the light is pleasant at the hour you have free. Keep the route to it clear. Store the cushion and a light layer somewhere convenient indoors if they need bringing in.
Sit in it now
Take a few minutes to test the arrangement. Is the table within reach? Does the door still open comfortably? Would you rather face the garden or the house?
Change one thing if it would help, then leave the larger garden plans for another time.
Pair It With
No outdoor chair? Use an indoor seat near a bright window. The ritual is about making a place available, rather than buying furniture.
When the place is ready, try The First Coffee Outside. For a larger but still manageable change, read How to Make Your Home Feel Like Spring Without Redecorating.
Return to Willowmere, where chairs have a habit of acquiring their own stories.
